Hey :)
During my free time and especially before bed, I like to relax with a book, so I thought I would write about some of my absolute favourites. I don't want to spoil the stories so I'll just give an outline :)
The first book is To Kill a Mockingbird. I think the reason I loved this book so much was because the American civil war and racism in South America really interest me. This book, by Harper Lee, is all about racism in Mississippi. It is narrated by a white girl, about 5 years old, called Scout. Her father defends a black man who was accused of raping a white girl. It is extremely well written and really gripping at the same time.
The next book is called A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini. This is set in Afghanistan, under the rule of the Taliban. It follows the stories of different characters and ends up to be very moving.
The Fault in our Stars is one of my favourite books ever. It is written by John Green (who also wrote Looking for Alaska) and is about a teenage couple who both have cancer. As soon as I started reading this I couldn't put it down - it was a real page turner. If I had to recommend one book to anybody, it would be this.
Another one of my favourites is called Wonder, by R J Palacio. This is a story about a boy called August who has a face deformation. It is told from his perspective, as well as other characters', which I really liked about the book. Throughout the book, I felt like I understood August, which shows how well written it was.
The last book I'm going to write about is called The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. Again, this is a book about racism in the south of America and is told by different characters. There is a film of this book however, I read the book first and I would recommend doing that, purely because I find it more enjoyable to imagine the story and characters rather than using the ones from the film.
Thanks for reading this :) If you ever read or have read any of these, please let me know because I'm one of those people who love to talk about books :)
